University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW)

The University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) is a state-accredited university teaching over 8'000 degree students and nearly 40'000 participants in continuing education. Situated amidst leading international clusters the FHNW's nine schools encompass a wide spectrum: from Computer Science, Business, Art and Design to Music. The School of Engineering will be partner in this project, more specifically the Department of Computer Science. The Computer Science Department FHNW is very successful in applied research in collaboration with industry partners and with national and international research institutions. In particular we maintain strategic partnerships with the Paul Scherrer Institute PSI, with many institutes of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) and the University of Basel.

The School of Engineering offers undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education programs for approximately 1300 students. In this project the Computer Science Department FHNW will be an end user of the developed didactical material. The material can be tested with novices and experienced students.
Current projects in the field of new learning methodologies:

  • POLE: Project oriented learning environment http://www.pole-project.ch/
  • Application of e-Learning material designed together with ETH Zurich (www.cta.ethz.ch)
